Since a week or two i am using Windows Live Messenger, wished i never upgraded to this tool incredible amateur tool from Microsoft. I was using MSN for a long time, and almost never did have problems, but since i am using WLM (makes me think about other tooling though), Microshit seems to have more and more problems with their so called service. Tonight i am not able to connect at all, every thing is fine, but i simply can not connect to their service, while Microshit keeps on telling me on their website that all services are up and running. Sure Running they are, but away from me, thats for sure.

Besides the connection problem, we also experienced a lot of other connectivity issues with Windows Live No Messenger, like the occasional (or even repetitive) message that the other side can not receive our messages, sometimes need to repeat myself for 10 times and the other-side gets only 1 message. And no, it is not my Internet connection, which is more as fine (how would i post this without it!) and no we did not have these issues with MSN.

So our rating for Windows Live Mess-anger : SUCKS

Bittorrent is in the news today, claiming to have found the way to stop piracy and change the world of online entertainment, oh boy, what are these people wrong. Read here just a bit of their crap:

BitTorrent is the global standard for delivering high-quality files over the Internet. With an installed base of over 135 million clients worldwide, BitTorrent technology has turned conventional distribution economics on its head. The more popular a large video, audio or software file, the faster and cheaper it can be transferred with BitTorrent. The result is a better digital entertainment experience for everyone.

135 Million clients ?! yeah sure, world wide, but the world is not USA, and that is where this blog begins, they offer movies, series and other good content, sure that is true, but they only deliver it to the US. All content currently shows in big letters: US ONLY!! Now tell me what good it is for me ? I live in europe (like million of other bittorrent users) not in the US.

Laughed by butt of today, someone tried to sell me a domain name i totally am not interested in, looking at the details of registration they registered it about 2 weeks ago, and thought to sell it off, sure they might have sold me the domain if they where eurid.eu themselves and i registered it myself, but as its in the hands of someone who thinks he can get rich with it, i don’t even want it, even if they give it for free. I will not do business with scumbags, ever.

What is wrong with all those webhost with their uptime guarantees, sure it is nice if your webhost is giving you a 99.9% uptime guarantee, but what does this mean, and how are they calculating this number. And not less important, do you want your webhost to go bankrupt because of a bad monday ?

Okay, I take it that a bad monday would not bring a decent company to the ground, but servers need to be payed, if they where online or offline. This is where things get interesting.

Bottom line, when a host offers you a 99.9% uptime, ask them about their refund policy, how to get the refund when their server did go down, who is deciding what happened (external monitoring company, or the host themselves), and how they make clear they are going to have scheduled maintenance on your server. But do not expect any host to deliver a high uptime for a low budget.

Some applications open a popup to fill in some information, when you are using firefox this not always goes the way you want, making is impossible, or nearly impossible to fill in the data, especially if you are not able to resize the window.

To make sure you can ALWAYS resize the windows you can do the following:

Start firefox and type in the URL bar: about:config
This will open the configuration window, now type there:

dom.disable_window_open_feature.resizable
And set the value to: true, and you are ready to go!

Searching for a freeware tool, which has it all ? look no further, PSPAD has it all, well, i think it has, up-till now i found everything i really wanted.

From a simple text editor with strong search&replace functionality, to selecting text in columns instead of lines. It also got a build in FTP editor, and to many features to all name them here. One word, PSPAD got it all, and if not, there are several add-on modules downloadable from the website.

As the writer says, this program is for any one who likes to:

- Work with various programming environments
- Like highlighted syntax in their source code
- Need a small tool with simple controls and the capabilities of a mighty       code editor
- Are looking for a tool that handles plain text
- Want to save money and still have the functionality of professional products.

I think they are to humble for describing their own software, a must try!

Visit the website here.
